This post is for my fellow photographers, who are uploading photos on Instagram but want to increase the reach of the audience.
Instagram provides you thirty hashtags to play with each of your uploaded photos. Thirty is not a small number. You need to pick the right keywords and absolutely targeted hashtags to reach right audience and potential fans.
1. Hashtags based on Geography: You can keep your hashtags to the regional community you belong to. For example, #StreetPhotographyIndia or #Delhi.
2. Photography genre: Pick hashtags based on your genre of photography. For example, #PortraitPhotography, #WeddingPhotography, #TravelPhotography. While these are broad categories, you may refine to reach out to right people. For example, a portrait photographer can be a street photographer so make a hashtag #streetportrait.
3. Weekdays hashtags: on certain days of the few hashtags are very popular. For example, #MondayMotivation #ThrowbackThursday. Use them to gain mileage on those days of the week.
4. Mood of the photo hashtags: based on the mood, you may choose hashtags like, #foodporn #instamood #joyofgiving.
This post is to trigger your thoughts to stay careful while hashtagging your photos on Instagram. You need to explore on hasgtag posts count to pick the right one. Hashtags with too many posts will be lost in the sea. Hashtags with less posts won’t gain attention of the Instagrammers.
